Coming Back to Blogger...kinda

So I really like Tumblr and most things about it, except for one. The fact that Google search will not pick up my Tumblr posts. It will search tags, but this is not ideal as it will show everyone else's posts with the matching tag.

So hopefully this new set up will work out better. I plan to keep both Tumblr and Blogspot, Blogspot as my main blogging platform, and Tumblr on the side to feature my Blogspot posts.

I was able to rebuy by Mini-Skirmish. I don't know why I ever got rid of it, its such a solid knife. Limited edition, 250 made, black coated, titanium scales, and a s30v blade. What more could I ask for. Oh and I have since shipped off the Ritter Grip for a modified Spyderco Barong. I have a feeling the Khuk and the Barong will be quite nice together.

I recently picked up this discontinued model. This knife has always been in the back of my mind but for some reason I just now had to have it. I was in the market for a new EDC folder as my Grippy was a tad to big for IWB carry. I was strongly considering the Paramilitary 2 because of its great reviews, but it just looked a bit odd to me. Now this "khukuri" probably seems even more so, so but that's why I like it.

This is my first Spyderco by the way, and certainly won't be my last. The attention to detail and construction is top notch. Solid lock up with no play in any direction, great ergonomics, and easy deploying Spydie hole.

Ever since I saw this watch, I fell in love with it. At the time, I was trying to acquire a GWM5600BC, so this was put down on the list. I was searching high and low when it was supposed to be released but came up empty handed. About a week or so ago they have been spotted at Macy's at which point I sold my Z2+XML and my old DW-5600MS1 to fund this purchase...I already miss both btw :(.

I love the negative display, the stealth look, and most of all the gold accents. I just wish that the buckle was gold as well, but it's okay.

It's certainly on the big side, but that's what kind of draws me to it.

Got this a couple weeks back after I cracked the screen on my Palm Pixi+ (#4), this time I wasn't intoxicated or trying to break dance lol.

I wasn't sure what to upgrade to even though I was browsing a few weeks prior. It was between the Pre 2, because of it's awesome OS, particularly the multitasking, the Android for its speed and its ability to be customized, and the iPhone because of it's user friendly OS and simplicity.

I always loved Apple products, so it was almost a no brainier when it was time to choose. I'm happy with my decision and haven't looked back since

Put my fender flares back on and installed some new to me Hella 4000's and Demello Hybrid sliders. Oh and I gave it a quick bath.

I picked this up for use as a thrower. The XRE has the narrowest viewing angle which gives it the tightest hotspot. I run CR123 primaries in this, like I do with all my lights. I chose single mode because I don't like messing with different modes except for my EDC lights. 8 degree optic for throw because I didn't want to mess with the common CREE rings found when pairing up a XRE with a smooth reflector. It's thermally potted for better heat transfer which includes copper tape to better the fitment of the module in the host.

Note that the label says XPG, but is indeed an XRE

I got this from Walmart for $10 thanks to CPF's good deal section. Retails for over $100 and was marked $60, but rand up as $10. I've tried looking at other stores, but came up empty handed. This one was actually sitting on the bottom shelf as if they didn't know where to put it.

Oh and it originally used to be yellow/black, but I did a rattle canned it quickly with my favorite color.... black

It uses a 3ah SLA battery, that seems to be dying. Not bad since I can run it while plugged into a car's 12v outlet.

Green Laser Pointer

I got this from FocalPrice.com It's supposed to be a 50mw green laser, but from the general consensus of other buyers it is actually less. I was expecting it to burn/melt slightly, but it doesn't even come close. Not bad for the price and is pretty cool, but maybe next time I will get a stronger one.

the quality is all right, but for the price, it's a good buy. I wish thought the anodizing was supposed to be black, but is more of a champagne bronze color. Have I known I would've spring for the Stainless Steel version... I still might.

Casio G-Shock DW-5600MS

I've had this for about a month and it's always on my wrist. I've had a Seiko Automatic on my wrist for about 7 years and finally got tired of it. The classic styling still gets me, but I got fed up with constantly adjusting the time every few days. My SKX023 wasn't so bad, but my 007 was behind about a minute a day. No matter how much I wore it, it never kept decent time for more than a couple days. I know these are part of the ownership of autos, finding the right resting position, the right amount of wrist time, etc. But it's just not for me, for now that is. Maybe one day I will get a case opener and do some adjustments, but I'm perfectly happy with this G-Shock. I think it has lost about 6 seconds in the past month, and is a lot more practical for me. I'll still wear one of the Seiko's for dressier occasions, but for now the G-Shock stays on my wrists.

I really wanted the GW-5600 because of it's solar and atomic capabilities, but couldn't justify the extra costs that places were charging.

I ordered this on Wednesday/Thursday of last week and received it today (Monday).

I chose the XML because of it's shear output and this light's intended use as a flood light. 4500k because I plan to primarily use it indoors, single level as I want this on high every single time. 2.8 amps instead of 3.1 since I am running this on primaries and don't want to push them too hard, and an OP reflector to smooth out any imperfections. Thermally potted in increase heat dissipation from the XML.

I still might put some sort of diffuser on the lens as there is still a prevalent hotspot, I'll test it out tonight and will see what I like.

I lego'ed a Z2 body with the head and tailcap from my gf's 6PD. Don't worry she got a practically brand new E2DL in return... I'm jealous. Inside is a DX SKU: 6090 3W Cree emitter that was in my truck's G2. This is only temporary as I have a Nailbender XM-L enroute. Not sure if this will be the permanent host of the XML as I might switch it up with the C2-BK that I have coming.

Oh and so much for managing my money right? Well surprisingly despite all these recent purchases, by next my next paycheck, all of it should be payed off.

Pelican Power Pack writeup

Finally I got around to making a short write up to the many that have asked.

First lets start of with materials:

-Pelican 1200 with foam (just need the top and bottom pieces)
-400w Inverter, I got this one Newegg (it was on sale for $20 at the time of purchase)
-12v 12Ah Sealed Lead acid battery (make sure the dimensions are the same)
-Digital Voltmeter (this one runs without an external power source)
-Switch (I just found this one in my drawer)
-DC Panel mount Jack and plug size N (radioshack)
-12v SLA charger

Here is the basic layout

Your exact set up may be a little different depending on what materials you use, but it should be about the same. Not pictured are the details to extending the wires for the receptacle panel. Just give yourself enough slack and make a drawing so you know which wires go where. Also if your LED's don't work, check to see that they are wired properly as the + and - do matter.

As for gauge size, I used the wires that came with the inverter (~12?) to connect it to the battery. Everything else I just matched it to whatever I was connecting it to. And for the battery and inverter connections, I just used a single common connector for all the wires so it looks cleaner.

The purpose of the Voltmeter is to make sure that your battery's voltage doesn't drop too low, thereby damaging the battery itself. It runs off the power going through it so I have attached a switch so that it is not constantly on and slowly draining the battery.

In the case I carry the charger, short jumper leads, and a set of extra fuses. The jumper leads allow me to charge my car battery if needed. Note that you should try to jumpstart a car with the power pack attached. The battery can't handle it and the wires definitely can't handle that much amperage going through it. Simply connect the power pack to the dead battery and let it charge for half an hour or so to get the voltage of the dead battery up.

Trying something new:

Pelican 1170 + 2x Cocoon Grid-it CPG5's. My take on the EDC "bag".

I got my inspiration from DArtagnan's post. Though I am not completely satisfied yet. Thinking about taking out the items that I still normally pocket carry (most of the bottom portion) and throwing in a small bag/organizer for stuff I don't need that often. Note that I don't carry this everywhere, but it is with me or near me when I go out. Since I practically have everything in my car, this is a way for me to keep track of my EDC items that I chose not to put in my pockets that day. It's mostly if I'm going out in a friends car or in a car that's not my own, more of a small EDC car "bag".

Why a Pelican over a bag (which I still may do in the future)? Simple, I love Pelican cases (in case you couldn't tell). I already had this 1170 for my SF 9P+A19+KT2 Turbohead+HO-M4A but I always though it was the perfect size for EDC use. Plus I'm not too sold on gear slingers and I think backpacks are too big for my intended use. I'm going to play around with it for the next few weeks until I get happy with the set up.

This is basically what I carry now days. I stopped carrying the lighter and the swisstool except for random days where I think I would need them. I also only carry the E1DL when I'm going out for a short time during the day in place of the E2DL. For those few weeks that I had a full load of gear, I've worn through the pocket's on most of my pants :(

Also I've switched back to my wallet in my back pocket and my knife back up front. It's a lot more comfortable and I haven't had any signs of problems siting on the plastic wallet.

Came across this old video from over three years ago. This was after the SoCal M&G3 with some truly unexpected events while heading up to Azusa Canyon OHV.

I was about two cars back when this happened. I saw him pull over but didn't realize what happened so I went around and followed the Underactive who was in front of me. We both kind of simultaneously pulled over after looking in our rear views and saw something on Tony's windshield. We were ahead by about 400-500ft and we started to head back to his FJ. As we got closer we saw what happened. A large rock fell down from the side of the mountain and was timed so that it hit nothing but the windshield, the top of the steering wheel, and Tony's face. The others were already tending to him trying to asses the situation. Despite the freak accident, Tony was able to pull over without problems, this is probably why we didn't think anything was wrong at first. In the end Tony rode back with with SoCalOCFJ and FJDave ended up driving Tony's to the hospital, of course while taking precautions by wearing his sunglasses and putting a towel over the broken glass on the seat. We ended the day romping around the mudpits of Azusa Canyon and overall having a good meet and mud session despite the incidents.

So I was browsing Sport's Chalet after a meal at Costco since it was cold outside. I was going to pick up a Zebralight clone for $12 but decided against it after a while. As I was ready to leave, I see these on the clearance rack. They retail at about $60 at REI and ~$30-$40 everywhere else. I got each one for a few cents over $10 with tax. They run off 3x CR123a batteries that included. I always wanted a lantern that uses CR123's and this was the ticket. The form factor is amazing, they just smush together to more compact option for packing/storing. It's about 100 lumens for 5 hours and 60 lumens for 12 hours, it also has a pretty intense strobe as the third mode. The beam quality is really iffy since there are a lot of artifacts due to the "reflector". But all 4 of these for about the price of one, I can't complain.

Last week I ordered some 38oz Guyot metal bottles from online. They were on clearance and after shipping and tax they were around $5 I piece. I ordered 8 of them cause they were so cheap. Turns out they sold out before I even ordered so it got canceled :(. I got another tip that Dick's sporting goods had some of the 32oz bottles on clearance for $5, you already guessed it, I cleaned them all out :)

Since I failed at buying anything early morning on Black Friday, I forced my self to buy some batteries, 128 to be exact. Rayovac 32 pack's were $5, so I picked up 4, lol. I also got a couple Maglites, 1 2D LED and 2x 2AA LED. I forced myself to get these lights, because every year I keeping kicking myself in the behind for not getting any. I was at Lowes at 7am on Friday, looked at the lights, then walked out empty handed. But the next day I decided to go back and pick a few up lol

I am in love with this one, it seems just like the perfect size. I got this (along with the 1020 and 1010) for my birthday from my wonderful girlfriend Jasmine :) This houses my Surefire "12P" combo and 8 extra batteries. That's a full hour of runtime if you count the 4 fresh ones in the light!!! lol

And I also said I would maybe get another 1650 when funds are back up. Well funds weren't back up but I saw this for cheap and I couldn't pass it up. Turns out it is the newer version with the extending handle and double wheels on both side. Oh and it was a lot nicer and cleaner than my first one. This was picked up the day after I got my 1510, which is also 2 days after I sold the 1650 if you are keeping track. I still don't have a real use for it, but I can store my other pelicans inside this one :)

This is the same place I got my 1470 from btw. Maximum size for airline carry on, because we all know I travel a lot ;) (jk btw)

I Finally got that Pelican 1650 that I've been lusting over the past few months. Sadly, I think it is too big for my intended use and will have to downsize to the 1510. Luckily I already have a buyer lined up for pick up tonight. Maybe when funds resurface I will pick up another 1650, but for now, the 1510 is what I "need"

I went up to Cleghorn with a few friends this past Sunday. There were only a couple spots where we got out for some pics/video. We didn't get any of the harder stuff as we were more concerned about making it out without any body damage. Too bad all I had was my crappy camera phone. It would've made for some epic pics. Others have asked me to compile a list of the stuff that I carry in my truck. I finally got around to doing it after lagging for many many months.

In the list are all the things that are in/on my truck at all times. I might be leaving one or two things out, but I'm pretty sure I got all of it. This from downsizing what I used to carry. The pics are in order chronologically of my drawer set up over the years. Included in the list is my contents of my BOB/GHB and modifications to my vehicle.

The big bold/underlined titles are the locations and the smaller bold/italicized titles are the smaller divisions within each location.

Was in an EDC buying mood despite my minor foot surgery. I picked up this Pelican 1060 case from Fry's while searching for new flash drive since my PNY attache took a dump. It was only a couple months old with barely any use. I decided to stick to my SanDisk Cruzer since I had very good experiences despite it's size. I also went back to the original Seiko strap as the NATO one was smelling pretty badly and had to be washed quite often. Oh and you can't tell but I picked up a few more Touchstone back covers for my phone as my old was peeling and these were on clearance for $4 at Radio Shack.

This case will store my current EDC gear and keep it all in one place (at home,in car, in future EDC bag?). I typically leave most my gear at home when going to the gym or playing basketball. I really don't like this but stuffing everything in 2 mesh pockets simply won't work. This way at least I will have my complete EDC in the car, if not on my person.

I've had this for a few months already and it still impresses me. I normally don't like knock off's of anything but at the price, I couldn't resist. I decided to buy from GeoMan rather than Dealextreme because I didn't feel like waiting a month to get it. I didn't mind paying a couple extra bucks dealing with someone that was US based.

I slimmed down the battery pack it self by removing it from the metal canister that doubled it's size. I wrapped up the battery pack with a couple layers of gorilla tape and MTB tube to ensure that it is still water resistant.
